May Day

A long weekend visiting the Eastern part of Finland for a serious sauna session and battery recharge, popping over to lovely little Porvoo for a mummy-daughter day, celebrating a dear friend's birthday and enjoying a barbeque in our friends' back garden, far from the May Day madness that customarily falls on this city. Porvoo basked in the sunlight, home came a couple of lovely little finds and we rested our legs in the quaintest corner of a favourite café.

Vappuviikonloppuna ehdittiin käväistä maamme itäisessä kolkassa saunomassa ja lataamassa akkuja, piipahtaa tyttären kanssa Porvoossa, juhlia rakkaan ystävän merkkipäivää ja viettää vappupäivää ystävien takapihalla hullun hulinan ulottumattomissa. Porvoo hehkui auringossa, joenranta-aitoista pari loistavaa pikkulöytöä ja Helmessäkin mahtui kerrankin valtaamaan unelmanurkkauksen.

    1. Thanks Franka :) Usually it gets really busy in this particular café, so it was lovely to for once have the space to sprawl over this particular nook.

  5. Oliko Remu kotona?

    1. We both agreed that we'll have to do some more mummy-daughter days, it was that nice. We'll start small and gradually move towards Paris when she's a bit bigger...

  7. 'serious sauna session' sounds lovely, and i celebrated may day by starting the day with a deep tissue massage from an angel. i feel loose as a goose, and i love it.

    smiles.

    1. Saunas can work wonders, but your deep tissue massage sounds more intriguing :) A spot of pampering is definitely in order now and then!

  8. Peonies ♥

Olen ollut Porvoossa useamman kerran, Vilijonkan kylässäkin siellä käynyt, mutta Helmeen en ole vielä ehtinyt. Jonain päivänä sitten, kauniilta se kyllä näyttää!

    1. Peonies are the best, although I didn't get to enjoy these too long as they were for my friend... Ensi kerralla siis Helmeen, on vaan varsinkin viikonloppuisi yleensä niin pullollaan porukkaa, että arkipäivää suosittelen! Ootko muuten käynyt Porvoon Cabriolessa uuden kaupungin puolella? Kiva sekin!

    1. That's the beauty of photographs, the seemingly harmonious :) Although I must say that the old part of town where I took this photos has such small town charm that it does feel harmonious strolling around.

    1. Thanks Alexandra - I'll have to keep the home glimpses coming every now and then (I always think my own resources are a bit too limited :)).
