The ice does look quite scary, but it's actually the result of ice breakers that clear the way for ferries and boats. But trekking on a little ferry with the noise of broken ice churning down below brings its atmosphere :)

Thank you Anci, it's an island just off Helsinki called Suomelinna in Finnish, Sveaborg in Swedish. If you happen to be in Helsinki one day, you can hop on a ferry at the main market square, so worth a visit!
