MAGNOLIA

Sometimes it's the smallest things that make one happy

- like the local florist telling me she had something

in the back that was meant for me

- and home I came with a succulent branch of magnolia.

And my two kids playing so well at their concert today,

making their mummy's heart burst with pride and joy

- seeing them up there,

well in their bones,  happy in their little souls.

And despite a rather hectic week

and lots of things on at the weekend,

this light that just seems to keep one sustained,

hearing the rain pattering in the night,

turning the grass another notch greener.

A friend's cat, a Bengal beauty

that we're looking after this week,

all demure, distant and alluring,

until she gives in and presses her exquisite head

deeper into the nook of my arm.

This magnolia reminding me of London

and  declaring in all her budding lusciousness

that it's March and it's spring!

Yes, I've loved how light has lingered longer into the evening
and this sun in the last couple of days has been so welcome
      - instantly grabbed my camera :)

  4. Voi ihanuus, mikä kaunis oksa! Tanskassa aina ihailen pihoilla kasvavia Magnolioita. Niin kauniita! Kyselin meidänkin pihaan puutarhamyymälästä, mutta kasvi vaatisi näillä meidän levyksillä paljon hoitoa eikä kestäisi talvea ... :((( Pitäisi ottaa selvää, löytyykö yhtään lajiketta, joka kukoistaisi meillä Suomessa.

    1. Tiedätkö Niina,
ostin muistaakseni Bauhausin puutarhamyymälästä vuosia sitten sinne vanhaan kotiin
magnolian, jota yritin kasvatella ruukussa kuistin lähettyvillä.
      Miehen vanhempien talon edustalla Englannissa
      kasvaa niin mielettömän ihana magnolia...

  5. Kauniita kuvia.

tai no just tuollaiset viekottelevat magnolian pehmeät sävyt.
Ihan parhaita tuollaiset myyjät, joilla on jotkut ylimääräiset anturit pystyssä
ja kohtaavat ihmisen ihmisenä eikä vain asiakasmassana!
