I walked the streets of Paris in my mind

Paris has been on my mind lately

- the last trip still vividly imprinted in my memory,

& plans for the next journey already jotted in the calendar.

One of the things my dream shop would sell

is Cachou Lajaunie,

those inexpensive little French mementos,

simply for their lovely, yellow tins.

little figures moving into it and fading out,

and beyond was all of Paris.

Paris was around us

and how could it be alien in our minds and hearts

even if no Frenchman ever spoke to us?

Hello Tuesday

Here's a really quick hello from me - 

I've been perched in my recent chair find

 devouring the latest issue of Rum, 

which had a Paris theme this time (always fine by me!), 

and included this elegant home. 

As for the chair, 

 the 1950s pared-down Swedish beauty 
was a bargain from a garage sale
 at the weekend

(a rather upmarket 'garage sale' I hasten to add, 

held at a photographer's studio). 

Tonight it's the third session
of a photography course I'm taking this spring,
trying to become closer friends
with f/stops and apertures among other things.
I'm thoroughly enjoying it!

is enough of a reason for a sudden urge to get my own copy, quick.
