IN THE WOODS

a walk in the woods at the weekend,
spring's first blooms.

a brook bubbling to its heart's content,
buds pushing through,
fragile & potent at the same time.

everything dappled with light.

GHOST OF JUNE

"ghost of june,
i will always find you everywhere ~"

"in the madrigal of anastasia lilies;"

"the henna dusted tresses of twilight
spread over the baroque bed
of sleepy highways
tapering into a sheet of dust;"

"in the shadows that junipers tattoo
over chiming brooks;"

"in the clairvoyant racket of ravens
promising the sylvan vagabond's homecoming."

images from an intoxicating drive on a weekend in June.

ISLAND WANDER

Me, my girl & a quiet island.
Close by,
another world.
The wind turned her cheeks to rosebuds,
on the other side of the island,
the sun glistened in gold.

Although it was closed,
there was a faint sound of music
 from the summer restaurant
lingering in the crisp air,
as birds began their feast
on her outstretched hand.

"We stood
steady as the stars in the woods
So happy-hearted
And the warmth rang true
inside these bones
As the old pine fell we sang,
just to bless the morning."

INTO THE WILD

Sometimes it's in the wilderness
where we find our peace.
Like wandering in the rolling hills
of the Peak District last summer
(pictured above),
when it hit us - a family of city-dwellers -
with such a sense of awe
& joy & freedom.

And now, I've been confined to my desk
a little too much lately,
but that wilderness simmers inside,
whispering, tugging,
inspired.
