Breathe

Brooklyn-based photographer Johnny Miller captures understated, enticing atmospheres. These leave me thinking once again how the most beautiful homes seem to be created layer by layer over the years, rather than slavishly following every latest trend.

Brooklynilaisvalokuvaaja Johnny Miller vangitsee vähäeleisen houkuttelevia tunnelmia. Jälleen tulee mieleen, että kauneimmat kodit syntyvät kerros kerrokselta vuosien saatossa, eivätkä sisustamalla sisustamalla ja trendien perässä juoksemalla.

Oh, I SO agree -- "the most beautiful homes seem to be created layer by layer over the years, rather than slavishly following every latest trend."

The pictures certainly illustrate this statement - down to the rust under the faucet :)

These photos are great - they prove that old things can still be very stylish. You don't need much money to create something cosy and full of life, I guess you just need to be the sort of person who sees the beauty behind the "rusty" objects. And then just add the layers!

Olen niin samaa mieltä kanssasi! Ajan kanssa tulee hyvää! Voikun tuo lause toteutuisi meilläkin meidän remppa kestää ja kestää.Välillä en tahdo jaksaa odottaa mutta hyvää tulee toivottavasti.

Illan jatkot!

Niinpä, kerroksellinen, ajan kanssa rakentunut sisustus kestää aikaa paljon paremmin kuin kerralla koottu kokonaisuus. Puhumattakaan muistoista, jotka sisustukseen liittyvät.

Rebecca, My namesake :) I think these types of homes feel so welcoming, no need to worry about leaving fingerprints on perfectly polished surfaces :) And all the stories hidden within those walls and objects.

mayfair personal trainer, Thanks!

Kristina, It's certainly a great bonus that you can pick up these wonderful bits and pieces sometimes for next to nothing. And the craftmanship and materials they used to use don't compare to modern-day one-minute-wonders.

Anu, Yritän lohduttautua samoin - ei tule tehtyä hätiköityjä päätöksiä kun pakostakin joutuu hauduttelemaan :) Onneksi välietapit valaa vähän uskoa siihen, että jonain päivänä on ainakin peruskuosit valmiina. Hyvä tulee molemmille!

Lumo, Hieno nimi muuten :) (Tiedän yhden Lumo -nimisen pikkupojan).

So beautiful and agree about staying away from the latest trend...as you say, lots of layers.

It's about seeing the shadows of the people that live there. It has that sense of mystery that is so interesting. It's not some photo of a perfect room with the current trend it's about a home with a soul because of the people that live or lived there with all the flaws.

Just my opinion.
