That corner with the worn-out leather chair and the red-shade floor lamp is a happy place. I see myself cuddling with a good book (book on paper, heavy, hard-bound, full of mysterious characters, and a smart detective chasing bad boys!) One day I'll stroll down Broadway to take a peek at this hotel, now that I know how it looks inside. The bath-tub with a writing desk nearby? Wow! The epitome of decadent chic. Being practical though, I imagine the hotel maids scrubbing the wet wood-floor to keep it dry and shiny. Thanks for sharing! Doina
Thank you Doina, your messages have been such a pleasure to read, had to stop and taste the words :) We once stayed in a house in France with a bath tub in the bedroom - it was a magical room and I loved that element so. But with the amount of traffic going on and out of our rooms I don't quite see a bath tub in a bedroom very feasible in our case... And then there's the floor maintenance issue as you point out :) So perhaps not a great loss after all, but all the nicer when staying somewhere so special.x
Rebecca, thank you for your kind words and for sharing that unique experience - staying in a house with a bath tub in the bedroom! I've seen such luxury in various sites on design. This hotel is exquisite and I felt great pleasure peering at the pictures. The building is also something from another era - look at that dome! Your blog is my happy place. Its name is adequate: Sanctuary! I'll be around, will leave a comment here and there. While doing my day work in my office, I have opened on the computer screen your site to peruse through it, like taking in a mouthful of fresh breeze. Escapism, what can I tell you, I'm a slave of beautiful things! Have a great day, Doina-the-dreamer
