Lounging Danish style

Some calm and relaxing living rooms here from my 'love files'. This week we've been celebrating my baby, who is now six (can't believe it!).  Now for a little stint in town to pick up some party bits for the weekend, and I'll get back to the messages you've left me a little bit later.

Have a lovely Friday everyone!

A tender trio

Spending the day trying to wrap work things up before the weekend, then checking out a new café in town with a friend. The rays of the sun are streaming - that lovely Friday feeling!

Chalk

Drawn towards chalk whites, ash greys, all things muted and pared down. And towards overlong white curtains, patinated herringbone floors, old fireplaces, clothes racks, paneled walls, magazine piles and fairylights (as always).

And suddenly black floors seem increasingly appealing, too.

Dreaming away!

P.S. And I adore this post, too.

Welcome weekend!

At home today, the floor in our daughter's room is now finished, as is all the painting. It looks like we'll get wallpapering at the weekend.

(Michelle was asking about the floor after a previous post, and for anyone else who might be interested - we first applied layers of lye, followed by oil with a white pigment, then soap, which we'll keep cleaning the floor with in the future. All of these are by a Danish company called Trip Trap, which can be bought under the name Faxe in Finland, and Woca at least in the U.K.. (You can find out more here )

And let me show you a glimpse of some recent chair finds, the one on the left from an online auction site, and the two dark ones from a skip in our yard, so all in all, they cost next to nothing.
With our living room still in shambles, this wonderful nook from the home of fashion designer Elise Gug is just so perfectly inviting.

Today we're spending a mummy&daughter day, and tonight it's finally Midnight in Paris for me.

Have a lovely weekend!

P.S. Anteeksi kun tuli vain englanniksi tällä(kin) kertaa - suomenkielisiä kommentteja on kuitenkin ihana lukea!

Some shots from this home have featured here before and the article from an older Elle Interiör magazine has been stashed in my scrapbook. Now I noticed via A Beautiful Living that this dreamy city pad is up for sale - these gorgeous photos are from the estate agency's website. The rain is pattering against the windowpane, and I wish you a sweet Friday evening.

Petra Bindel

Many of these have appeared on my blog before, but Petra Bindel's home shots are something I keep returning to over and over again. All of these have been featured in magazines already a few years back, yet they seem to stand the test of time.
